Prerequisites: Recommended preparation: Prior completion of PHYS 2300 or equivalent background in modern/quantum physics. Not open for credit to students who have passed PHYS 4095 when offered as Quantum Computation and Quantum Information.

An introduction to the theory and practice of quantum information science. Application of fundamental quantum physics phenomena to the storage, communication and processing of information and represents a complete paradigm shift for information processing technology. Topics include the physics of information processing, quantum logic, example quantum algorithms, quantum error correction, quantum communication and key distribution, and quantum teleportation.
