4030. Foundations in Pharmaceutics II

Prerequisites: PHRX 3030 and PHRX 3033 (or PHRX 3031); Open only to Doctor of Pharmacy students and to Pharmacy Studies students in their first or second professional year.

This course covers the application of physical chemistry and dosage form science to the stability, delivery, release, disposition, pharmacokinetics, and therapeutic effectiveness of dispersed system drug products. Topics include interfacial phenomena, nanoparticles, rheology, suspensions, emulsions, and specialized dosage forms such as aerosols, suppositories, transdermals, otic, ophthalmic and more. The course emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and pharmacy calculations relevant to contemporary practice.
