Explores the relationship between body composition, athletic performance, and eating disorder risk in sport. Students will examine the physiological, psychological, and sociocultural factors that influence body composition and eating behaviors in athletes; common eating disorders among athletes, with particular emphasis on low energy availability (LEA) and Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs); the influence of eating disorders on body composition and sport performance. Students will learn to recognize early warning signs and apply evidence-based strategies that support athlete health and performance while minimizing risk.
