2093. Social Determinants of Health in Rural Guatemala

An in-country immersion in rural Guatemala, where students explore Guatemalan society’s cultural, historical, and sociopolitical context through the lens of global health and social justice. Promotes reflection on power, privilege, diversity, and structural inequities in health. Students engage with global perspectives, examine the impact of social injustice, and consider the role of nursing in advancing health equity. Through guided reflection, students develop cultural humility, global awareness, and a deeper sense of personal and professional growth. Led by UConn School of Nursing faculty and in collaboration with members of the Guatemalan community.
