3993. Foreign Studies in Landscape Architecture: Seoul Studio

Provides students with experiential learning opportunities in Seoul, South Korea, one of the most dynamic cities in the world. Students will explore diverse aspects of Seoul’s urban fabric, including parks, gardens, neighborhoods, green infrastructure, streetscapes, plazas, markets, museums, and historic sites. Students develop a comprehensive understanding of both contemporary and traditional Korean landscapes (K-Landscapes), and the social, cultural, and ecological factors that shape the built environment and urban life in Korea. Blending cultural exploration with design inquiry, this program offers a unique opportunity to gain global perspectives on landscape architecture and sustainable urbanism. Students will also examine the cultural and political dynamics behind Korea’s urban regeneration efforts, and the challenges and opportunities facing rapidly evolving urban environments in Asia’s most design-forward nation.
