4750. Machine Learning and Numerical Modeling in Hydrology

Prerequisites: Recommended Preparation: Previous course or research experience in hydrology and/or applied statistics, such as ERTH 4150, ERTH 4735, NRE 2215E, NRE 4135, STAT 1000Q, or STAT 1100Q.
Grading Basis: Graded
An introduction to process-based modeling techniques for surface and subsurface hydrology with a focus on groundwater flow, stream discharge, and land surface modeling. Students will use modern machine learning methods and neural networks to address current and emerging challenges in hydrology.
