3602. Language Diversity and Social Justice in the English Classroom and Beyond

Prerequisites: ENGL 1007 or ENGL 1010 or ENGL 1011. Not open for credit to students who have passed ENGL 3695 when offered as "Linguistic Diversity in a Social Justice Context."

Grading Basis: Graded

Exploration of language as a site of power, identity, and inequality through the application of theory and research from Writing Studies. Topics may include how language diversity influences writing instruction and assessment, as well as how it shapes writers’ identities and rhetorical choices. Students will develop teaching or public-facing materials that promote inclusive rhetorical and educational practices.
