Organization and design of data and control structures in digital computer architectures. Machine and assembly languages are used for programmer abstractions. Hardware design languages are used to design register transfer level system components. Consideration of computer organization and abstractions, instruction set architectures, computer arithmetic, performance considerations, sequential abstraction, instruction level parallelism, and memory system. State-of-the-art digital system design and simulation tools are used as part of the course.
